Fall Family Photos in Hermann Park

We met early on a Sunday morning in Hermann Park for these family and candid playtime photos, as part of a larger extended family photo session. Amy's dad made a comment about getting him out and about so early on a Sunday, to which I responded, "But isn't it worth it? It's so beautiful today!" I assure you that these and the rest of the photos from that morning prove just how worth it waking up so early was!

This made me chuckle - I found her playing under the picnic table and asked if it was her fort. "No, silly. This is a picnic table." :)

Angry Bird Pumpkins take second place in third annual office Halloween contest!

I really thought this was my year. I mean, I thought it in previous years too - in 2009 I created a Wicked Witch pumpkin complete with a melting face that scored me third place; and in 2010 I created a Mr. Potato Head pumpkin complete with interchangeable pumpkin parts that only scored me second place. Now, I'm competitive in nature, but I really just one year want to win FIRST! Is that too much to ask? So I came up with the grand idea of Angry Birds to enter into the "Hystericalist" category this year. Second place again!

Here's the complete set:

I made the "crate" for the pig and the "slingshot" for the red bird out of a paper grocery bag. I thought that added to the cuteness. Here are closeups of the red and blue birds. Painting the faces on the blue birds was the hardest part!

Hermann Park Family Portraits

It POURED the entire day, starting within about an hour after we wrapped up these photos. I was happy to see it rain, and happier to have had all the beautiful light and clear skies for these gorgeous family photos.

Jillian, Zach and Cate recently moved back to Houston and I was honored to capture their first official family photos! Below are several of my favorites.

This one was taken before we even got started. Love her chubby cheeks!

Sarah + Cory's Discovery Green Headshots

It's been one crazy and insanely HOT summer! Needless to say, there haven't been many on-location outdoor sessions, but I am excited to bring the blog back to life with this session taken in Discovery Green recently. Sarah and Cory both work in the Arts, so this was the perfect location for some natural-light, modern professional headshots. We walked around to take advantage of the various artwork, vibrant colors, and natural surroundings within this downtown oasis.

I've said it a million times, but I have really beautiful friends, don't you think? Here are several of my favorites!

Marley's 12-month portraits in Hermann Park

It's been an honor to chronicle Marley's first year in photos. I first met her and her mom Katie last July to photograph her 4-month portraits and then met up with them again this January to photograph her 10-month portraits at the Houston Children's Museum. When I joined them at Hermann Park on a gorgeous weekend afternoon, Katie told me how excited she was to have these photos taken, that she'd been looking forward to this since the day Marley was born. And Marley couldn't have done a better job in front of my camera! Gorgeous late afternoon sunlight, a happy baby, and lush scenery combined to produce quite possibly my favorite photo session to date. Thank you Katie and Marley for a wonderful session! I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do.

Here are several favorites!
