My life on hold

To say the past two weeks have been hectic/emotional/unexpected is an understatement. Labor Day weekend marked the beginning of a new challenge for my family and life since then has been a roller coaster of emotions. We are all doing just fine now and have started the recovery process after an unexpected health scare. I won't go into all the details, some family matters should still stay sacred in this internet age of wearing one's heart on the world wide web. But bottom line, we are all doing well and in fine health, and I can't really ask for more at this point.

So, to say the least, I'm behind on life. I've been emotionally zapped and easing back into my daily routine, so while I do have a few things I'm excited to blog about, it'll be a little bit longer before they make an appearance here. In the meantime, I'd love to share someone else's amazing photos. I was so excited to see that my sister Kim's wedding photographer finally posted her wedding photos on their blog the other day. And I LOVE them! They did an incredible job of capturing the energy and emotion of the day. The reception was, simply put, a fabulous party! Looking at the photos, I can hear the live band, feel the happy tears I cried, see Nick's face every time he looked at Kim, and hear the maid-of-honor speech I recited over and over in my head just so I wouldn't mess it up.

For those of you who may have ended up here and don't know me, I'm the ridiculously photogenic redhead in several of the photos, and I'm a little on the vain side.

Revealing my vanity with my very own Facebook fan page

In my not so distant past, I hated blogs. There was something I found awfully vain about thinking that people cared enough about what you were writing about yourself. And then I fell victim to the beautiful world of blogging after I created my own. And now I'm addicted to so many that I read on a daily basis. So here I am admitting my own hypocrisy by introducing my own Facebook fan page for Kelly Tarleton Photography and Design.

I truly didn't think anyone else would care about photos of my dog and other random things I shoot with my camera. But the beauty of human kind has shown me otherwise. I'm so fortunate to have the support of my family, friends, old classmates, and playmates from my childhood. You've all come out of the woodwork to cheer me on, and I greatly appreciate it! Thank you for following my blog, and I hope now that you'll become a fan on Facebook and continue to spread the word to your family and friends.

To become a fan, either click here or scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the Facebook badge on the lower left.

And because there are still many of you who say you love seeing photos of my dog, and it's been awhile since I posted one, here's Barley from this morning:

Harris family photos

Lane and I have quite a bit in common: the red hair, freckled skin, diplomas from Klein Forest High School, respect and adoration for organized closets, and a love for photography. Lane is also venturing down the photography studio business path, (check out her website Lane Harris Photography) so we've started to get together to talk about all things photography. Simply put, Lane cracks me up. She lives life in the moment and doesn't take herself too seriously. And I love how her bubbly personality shows in her photography. So when she asked me to take family photos to celebrate her son Cole's first birthday, I knew this would be a ton of fun.

Jonathan's younger sister, who is my age, and I lived at the neighborhood pool together when we were little. She tanned like a bronze goddess, I burned, it was always fun. I've never spent much time around Jonathan, but during this whole photoshoot, I felt like I was hanging out with Heather again! To begin with, they look so much alike, and they talk alike too. Even the laugh is the same. weird.

Thank you Lane and Jonathan for being good sports and suffering through the morning heat!

Cole just couldn't resist the ducks.

About Kelly Tarleton

I've always been a creative person, and the one who always had a camera on-hand at a moment's notice for any occasion. Photography and graphic design dominated my life in school and I loved every minute of it. I miss that constant creative outlet and want to share more of it with my family and friends through this blog.See more of my work at my website:
